Learning Consultant – The School of Life at Work (1 year fixed Maternity Cover)

Job Description

As a Learning Consultant at The School of Life at Work, you will take the lead on bespoke, tailored, and core programmes of learning. You will have experience and expertise across a range of learning modalities, and be a trusted senior advisor to our clients, supporting them to develop an engaging, effective, and results-driven learning strategy. You will be stepping into thought leadership within Learning & Development and be a keen contributor to our industry. Your experience and expertise will also be used to develop our people; with line management responsibilities for our Instructional Designer role.

 

Your client-facing role will begin in the discovery phase of a project; you will be responsible for supporting our Sales team with a creative and consultative approach to RFPs and proposals. In-project, you will be expected to design and deliver a solid design process and methodology – including the facilitation of client-facing design workshops. You will be enthusiastic about understanding and advocating for your audience, demonstrating a Human-Centred design approach in your work.

The Role

In addition to your client-facing responsibilities, you will also be responsible for consolidating excellent standards of best practice in our Core Content Library. This will require a commitment to understanding and adhering to The School of Life insights and tone of voice, and ensuring this is reflected across everything we do. Your expertise will be drawn upon by our Marketing and Client Services teams, and you will feel comfortable and energised to contribute to a range of tasks and opportunities.

 

  • Confidently lead bespoke and tailored learning programmes for our global client, demonstrating your expertise in learner engagement, learning strategy, behaviour change, and ROI.
  • Demonstrate and evidence specific expertise and experience in instructor-led training/workshop design to the highest standard.
  • Maintain exemplary standards of best practice within our Core Content Library of Workshops and Talks, with an expert knowledge of The School of Life and commitment to updating our International Partners.
  • Actively contribute to our sales targets with a consultative and creative approach to proposals and RFPs.
  • Line manage our Instructional Designer role and contribute to the professional growth of our learning team.
  • Follow and update design processes and methodology to ensure smooth cross-functional collaboration across all internal teams.
  • Actively engage with industry trends, market conditions, and competitors to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge, supporting our Marketing team with thought leadership as required.
  • Collaborate with our Client Services team to deliver excellence in customer experience.
  • Support our Faculty team with training and client briefs, to ensure a seamless programme experience.

Experience

Extensive experience of leading learning consultancy and the design of effective, engaging, and performance-driven L&D programmes, ideally in a B2B business / Extensive experience of conducting QA (Quality Assurance) of L&D products, ideally with a psychological and behavioural science underpinning / Experience with behavioural change (background in psychology and or Behavioural Science highly desirable) / Management experience in dynamic, ambitious SMEs / Experience structuring, improving and managing the integration of design operational and project management systems / Desirable Prior P&L management experience / Converting trends into product to help drive sales

Salary

£55-60K depending on experience
