What Brings You Peace?

When the turbulence of life threatens to overwhelm us, we often seek relief in our own, private refuge of calm and belonging. It might be a favourite place, or pastime; a treasured possession or cherished memory.
 
Recently, we invited people to share with us something that brings them peace. We’ve used their words and reflections to create a series of brief, meditative films on the theme of finding balance and harmony.

Himani – Drawing as Therapy

“My point of healing is doing a quick sketch as part of my morning routine. It leaves me feeling great. I’m able to control my emotions better, without hopping too much in on the subject, which can be the trees, the flowers in my garden, or a seemingly usual corner of the house.”

Marco – Friendship

“I used to have a hidden place. It was my friend’s living room where we would meet and play board games every Saturday. It felt a home for my chosen family. I say this in the past because things have changed and I don’t feel I have a point of healing anymore. Something that helps me now is running, or the sea.”

Divya – Sunrise

“If I have a point of healing it would be sunrises. Sitting watching the sun rise, the calm atmosphere, that orange light all over the sky…reminds me that the sun, the sky is going to be there after all. Even after night-time. It was there all along. It will be there all along. And that brings me some stability.”

Darja – Mind & Body

“During COVID I got stuck in a foreign country – every day I walked for hours and just observed the empty streets. It saved my mental health and became a huge part of my lifestyle. One of the routes of my anxiety is extreme fear of being out of control and uncertainty. When I walk, my body is a tool and my blood is a gas, and I can control it.”
